FAQs

  • Sterling truck racks are fully welded and constructed with heavy duty steel. We have tested the carrying strength of our standard truck rack up to 3,500 lbs. (Distributed load over the rear removable crossover bars). We would have tested it further, but we ran out of heavy stuff to put on it! However, please do not attempt to carry more weight than your truck can safely hold. If you plan to haul something super heavy, let us know!

  • Yes! Our truck racks can hold a ladder… and plywood sheets, lumber, pipes, garage doors, shovels, etc. We also offer ladder hangers that allow you to hang your ladder on the side of your rack, while keeping the rack available for all of your hauling needs!

  • Unfortunately, no. All bumper to bumper truck racks must be installed at Sterling Equipment in Umatilla, Florida in order to custom fit and fabricate the front frame-mounted supports.

  • Our truck racks are fully welded, meaning that they are solid, one piece racks. There are not thousands of bolts holding each component together; they are instead permanently joined together with the power of melted metal. When we do have to use bolts—such as when we construct a rack in two parts for powder coating purposes—we utilize Grade 8 hardware. Grade 8 is highest strength bolts under the SAE J429 standard.
